In General
Anyone with an approved character can start an IC thread, be it for interaction, training, fun, or whatever. Please try to keep in mind the timeline and the weather forecast for the day you’re making the thread on. There are some exceptions relating to the Challenges that only the Game Master may start threads for. These threads have stricter rules. Read on for explanations.
About Announcement Threads
On the Saturday of each in-game week, there will be a thread at the Gathering Spot where the Game Master will announce the Challenges for the next week. Anyone may attend these threads. These threads are so characters can be aware of what’s to come and respond to it. Threads before and after the announcements can be started by anyone, but only the Game Master can start the announcement thread itself. They will be titled like this: "Week 1 Challenges Announcement", "Week 2 Challenges Announcement", ect.
About Challenge Threads
In order to be fair to the competitors, the Challenge threads will have more strict regulations than would other threads.
Challenge threads can only be started by the Game Master. There may be NPC characters for a challenge. These NPCs may be playable to everyone (for example, generic enemies), or only playable by the Game Master (for example, the Sphinx from Week 1). The status of any NPCs will be noted in the first post of a Challenge thread.
Posting Order is important in a Challenge thread! Think of it more as an RPG than a general interaction thread. Please abide by the posting order. Also note, the Game Master is included in the posting order as they may need to respond to the character’s actions as well. A player’s turn can be skipped if five days to a week has passed while everyone was waiting on them. Alternatively, a player may give permission to have their turn skipped themselves.
Most Challenge threads will be split up into multiple threads…
They may be split up for different lengths in an obstacle course. Threads will be given simple titles like: “Week 1, Thursday Challenge: Part 1, The Rocky Climb”, “Week 1, Thursday Challenge: Part 2, The Fiery Dash”, “Week 1, Thursday Challenge: Part 3, The Turbulent River”, “Week 1, Thursday Challenge: Part 4, The Leap of Faith”. For obstacle course type Challenges, each length must be completed before the next unlocks. All characters included must have some kind of conclusion by the end of the thread before the next opens: Did they complete they make it to the end? Were they injured? Did they forfeit? And so on.
Threads can be split up if each Team is competing separately. They will be given simple titles like: “WANDS: Week 1, Wednesday Challenge: Sphinx’s Riddles”, “PENTACLES: Week 1, Wednesday Challenge: Sphinx’s Riddles”, “SWORDS: Week 1, Wednesday Challenge: Sphinx’s Riddles”, “CUPS: Week 1, Wednesday Challenge: Sphinx’s Riddles”. These sorts of threads can be done simultaneously as they do not depend on each-other.
Players are allowed to make their own threads before and after the Challenges for character interactions, but they can’t make their own threads that occur during the Challenge itself.
About Judgement Threads
After a Challenge is complete, there will be two threads to determine and announce the winners. Both the one day and three day Challenges have these threads.
The first of these threads will be for the Judges (and possibly Execs and the Game Master if they choose to interfere) to talk among themselves. These threads are only open to Judges, Execs and the Game Master. All Judges have witnessed the Challenges, even if their player didn’t post as them in a Challenge thread. First, second, third and fourth placing must absolutely be determined at the end of the thread: this isn’t to say Judges can’t argue, but there must be a conclusion. These threads will be titled like this: “Week 1, One Day Challenge: Judgement”, “Week 1, Three Day Challenges: Judgement”.
After the judgement thread is finished, there will be a thread at the Gathering Spot to announce the winners and losers. The Game Master will often be the one to make the announcement. Characters are free to interact or respond as they choose during these threads. Anyone may attend these threads. These threads will be titled like this, “Week 1, One Day Challenge: Winners and Losers”, “Week 1, Three Day Challenges: Winners and Losers”. After the announcement, the effects of the Rewards and Punishments take place immediately! So remember that your character, if effected, will respond to these. Further responses to the effects may occur in threads started by players after the announcement.
Players are allowed to make their own threads before and after the judgement for character interactions, but they can’t make their own threads that occur during the judgement themselves.
