Appearance
An average-sized, though underweight, African lioness with dull grey-brown fur. Owl has the typical skinny and sharp-featured build of an Outlander. Her undercoat is pale grey-blue. She has dark purple patches around her eyes. Her nose is black as is the tip of her tail. Her pelt is clear of any spots, not even faint ones. Her eyes are her most distinguishing feature, with two rings in her irises: one bright yellow-green and the other red. Her pupils are ever so slightly slit-like.
Personality
Owl is a little bit out there. This might have something to do with her unusual upbringing. If she were human, one might say she fits into the "happy goth" trope. Owl prefers the nighttime and likes to collect things such as herbs, bones and even gems if she's lucky enough to find them. She has naturally fallen into the role of a healer due to her experimentation with various herbs, including those with mind-altering properties (it's exactly what you think it is). While reasonably well versed in traditional healing, she has her own, less conventional methods of helping her fellow Outsiders; recently, offering readings of the stars and crystal healing. Owl is friendly to basically all Outsiders, if a bit airy and strange. She's about as close to liberal hippie scum as an Outlander can be. Though, due the influence of Scar and his followers, has an unwavering distaste for Simba and anyone aligned with him, apparently to the point of having no qualms bringing them physical harm.
Background
Abandoned as a cub, a young Owl found family in a very unlikely place. She was taken in by a small hyena clan when the matriarch decided it would be unethical to let the cub die. This clan was less violent than a typical clan and strived to be in-tune with the balance of nature. Although no one hyena stepped forward to act as a proper mother or father to Owl, she was raised communally by all, adsorbing the clan's knowledge. It was during this time she gained her fascination with healing and reading the world around her for answers. Eventually though, it truly began to sink in to Owl that she wasn't like the rest of her family.
It wasn't long before Owl came into contact with more of her own kind. Her clan had joined up with Scar in hopes of good hunting grounds. Owl was merged in with the Pride Landers, although the transition was rough. She didn't know how to be a lion; she preferred to hunt at night, she cackled, she thought all the boys had to do what she said. Soon she began to learn though. It was bumpy, to say the least, to become another animal in order to be accepted.
As Owl was becoming more and more influenced by Scar's followers, the plants began to dry up and the herds began to move on. Owl's clan felt that the natural order had been disrupted and decided to get out while the going was good. They felt it would be better to let Owl remain with her own kind. Although she was nearly an adult at this point, Owl felt hurt that the only family she knew left her. She isolated herself for a while, choosing to focus on perfecting her hunting, which would later be refined into skills in battle.
When Simba returned, Owl was set as a supporter of Scar and, after the fight for Pride Rock, as an Outsider. Owl felt the golden lion had no right banishing them, least of all to a wasteland; she feels the Pride Landers are hateful, manipulative and hypocritical. "Good guys"? Ha! Her talents are being put to use as a medic and part-time warrior; she also fancies herself something of a peacekeeper.
The lioness was then forced onto the island. Owl believes this to be some sort of test the Fates have given to her. Owl has gone along with her circumstances surprisingly readily.
